Ruth Denney,
UT Distinguished Professor Emeritus, founder of Houston’s High School of the Performing and Visual Arts, a member of the ACE Advisory Board, and a charter member of the McCallum High School Foundation.

Created in 2020, this scholarship honors the dozens of people who were involved in the
Academic Achievement + Creative Excellence Program
that preceded the McCallum
Fine Arts Academy.


One single application (below) places a MFAA Senior into consideration for BOTH scholarships.
The $2000 merit scholarships are awarded each year to recognize an outstanding McCallum Fine Arts Academy graduates.  It is open to any McCallum Fine Arts Academy Senior who has both fulfilled all requirements of a fine arts academy major in either art, dance, theatre or music and who has plans to enroll as a fine arts major in college. The scholarship is administered by the McCallum HS Foundation.

The recipient will be announced at the annual MFAA Convocation each year.  To receive the scholarship, the recipient must provide confirmation of acceptance and enrollment to a college, university, or art institute prior to the start of the semester. The scholarship must be claimed in the first semester after high school graduation; scholarship monies unclaimed by that time will be forfeited.

Applicants must complete & submit the scholarship application, and submit a letters of support: one letter from a McCallum HS fine arts teacher, and one or two letters of recommendation from members of the community. All letters may be submitted via email by the deadline.
